HIIT Classes in First Hill

Big results, First Hill timeline

The most efficient workout in the neighborhood

First Hill — Seattle's "Pill Hill" — is wall-to-wall with people whose days are already full: hospital staff between shifts, high-rise residents, students, and downtown professionals. Nobody here has a spare two hours for the gym.

That's exactly why HIIT fits. By alternating short bursts of hard effort with brief recovery, a high-intensity interval class delivers a complete cardio-and-strength workout in just 45 minutes — and keeps your metabolism elevated for hours afterward. You get more out of less time.

Our studio is a quick walk or First Hill Streetcar ride away, and every class is led by a certified coach who scales the intensity to you. Go all-out or dial it back — either way, you leave having worked.

Inside a HIIT class

45 minutes, four phases, zero wasted reps

Every session follows a smart arc — warm up properly, work hard in intervals, build strength, then recover. Your coach guides the whole thing and keeps your form honest.

PHASE 01

Dynamic Warm-Up

Mobility and movement prep that raises your heart rate gradually and gets every muscle ready to work — safely.

PHASE 02

Work Intervals

The heart of HIIT: short, focused bursts of effort followed by recovery, repeated to push your cardio engine.

PHASE 03

Strength Circuits

Coached resistance work that builds real, functional power and keeps the metabolic burn going strong.

PHASE 04

Active Recovery

A guided cooldown and mobility finish so you walk out feeling worked — not wrecked — and ready for next time.

Why HIIT works

Train smarter, not just longer

High-intensity intervals push your body in ways steady-state cardio can't — building endurance and strength at the same time, in a fraction of the time. And because it's coached, you get the intensity without guessing.

  • Burns energy during the workout — and keeps burning afterward
  • Builds cardio fitness and strength in a single session
  • Fully scalable — push every interval or modify on the fly
  • A complete workout in 45 minutes, no hours at the gym

★★★★★

"I spent a year going to Local Fit and had a great time attending the group classes. The classes are beginner friendly and offer a variety of training over the week, while also being intense for 45 mins. All trainers (John, Mitch, Ben, Rene, Michael, Cole) are great and motivating to work with, and the classes always have some good music going. I would highly recommend signing up to their classes for a solid workout routine!"

First Hill HIIT class FAQs

What exactly is a HIIT class?
HIIT stands for High-Intensity Interval Training. You alternate short bursts of hard effort with brief recovery periods, which builds cardio fitness and strength efficiently. Our classes wrap that into a coached, 45-minute, full-body session.
Is HIIT okay for beginners?
Absolutely. "Intensity" is relative to you — every movement has a scaled-down option, and your coach helps you find the right level. Plenty of our members did their very first interval workout in one of these classes.
How often should I take HIIT classes?
For most people, two to three HIIT sessions a week with recovery days in between is a great rhythm — enough to see progress while giving your body time to adapt. Your coach can help you build a schedule that suits your goals and fitness level.
Is HIIT hard on your joints?
It doesn't have to be. Our coaches offer low-impact modifications for every high-impact move, so you can keep the intensity up while being kind to your knees, hips, and back. Just let your coach know what you need.
What should I bring and wear?
Bring water, a towel, and supportive training shoes, and wear comfortable workout clothes you can move freely in. Arrive about 10 minutes early for your first class so your coach can get you set up.
Where are the classes relative to First Hill?
Our studio sits just north of First Hill in the Capitol Hill / Pike-Pine area — an easy walk or a short First Hill Streetcar ride from most of the neighborhood. Reach out and we'll point you to the closest location.
